Even the biggest wave starts with a single ripple....

Rare Disease Day will be celebrated across the world on February 28.

This year we held our first Awareness walk in Cairns for rare diseases! Over 200 people came out to walk the esplanade on what turned out to be a gorgeous NQ day! We hope to make this event an annual one to continue to raise awareness towards rare diseases, disorders and conditions and the people in our region who are affected by them.

The raffle was drawn at the Nth Qld Pride first home game of the season at Barlow Park Cairns, 100% of the proceeds from the raffle will go to the SMILE foundation  (The only group that supports families affect by rare conditions in Australia).

three major prizes were drawn;

  • framed & signed 2008 Qld State of origin jersey
  • framed & signed  xxx beach cricket bat (Alan Border, Courtney Walsh & Graham Gooch)
  • a signed Queensland Reds jersey

Proceeds of the walk & the raffle totaled over $3500! a massive effort in a time where so many are so needy.
